Originally conceived as a one-off project in London, Deluxx Fluxx allowed Faile and Bast to indulge nostalgia for the classic video arcade while exploring the tactile possibilities of the wooden cabinet as sculptural medium. In its New York incarnation, the retrofitted machines run new games by Adapted Studio based on Faile and Bast’s omnivorous visual language, with sounds produced by Seth Jabour of the noted band Les Savy Fav.

For all you iphones users out there and I know there's a lot of us, ATT has a new app called "Mark the Spot." It basically allows you to let ATT know when it sucks. I don't know how much of an impact this will really have, but I know there are times when I am frustrated with my phone and want to yell at someone.

andrew had his third annual scavenger hunt birthday party. this body shot attempt may not have counted, but our limerick sure the hell did.
here's truman, an 85-pound golden retriever that i sometimes watch. he was our team mvp, and he's certainly our pet of the week.
as seen in previous posts, nate launched his imfromdriftwood.com site, so we decided to throw a surprise party for him.
thanks everybody for helping to get the party together. nate wouldn't have been more surprised if he had woken up in the morning with his head sewn to the carpet.
pat was on a national tour for several weeks with the flatlanders, and last month they played a gig at bb king's. he's got some great stories about being on a bus every day with six other guys, and he says they've all bonded and become really close.

an email does make a difference
Danny sez, "Blogger Julie of TangoBaby was walking past a begging homeless woman, K, and her two kids in San Francisco, agonising about how she couldn't do anything to help -- when she realised she could. She wrote up the story of the family, took photos, and started telling their story on her blog. Now she's working with her readers to get a fair deal for K in SF's bureacratic system for handling the homeless in the city, and recording the troubles and opportunities they're having on the way."
We talked, and I learned her name was K. and asked her about the shelters in town. She rattled off the names of homes that I know are where abused women and children escape to when their lives are in danger.

Then it dawned on me that maybe I could do more than give her $30 and hope someone else gives her another $30 so the young family can find a place to sleep tonight. I asked her if we could share her photos and her story so that somewhere, some of you might be able to help.
K's eyes are perpetually brimming with tears. She's tiny and her hands are chilled. Baby M is sleeping under a blanket on her chest. The two younger children, D and Little K, are relatively quiet considering their ages. At 7 and 9, they could be tearing up the sidewalks, but they're not.
When I explain to K about my blog and that I hope that maybe someone out there reading might have a way to help, she thinks it's a good idea and says it's okay to take the pictures. "It can't be any more embarrassing than what I'm doing now," she says.

my week. *sxsw absentee edition*
i'm going to try and get back on my regular schedule of 'my week' mondays, and before osman floods us with sxsw stories and photos, i'm gonna slip in a posting real quick. i had some leftover yen in my pocket from my last trip to mccarren park, so on wednesday i went down to the financial district to exchange it. this is the church just east of ground zero. in the background is one liberty street plaza, the building that i worked in cleaning computers in the months following 9-11. and that's another story altogether.
what are 'alcohol drugs'? and how are they destroying my life? follow jesus? read the bible? um...according to the bible, jesus miraculously made alcohol out of water. so aren't you sending mixed signals, pal? get your shit out of my face. i've got yen to exchange for american dollars. which i'm going to spend on more alcohol drugs. oh god, my life....
damien had a birthday on wednesday night, and since everyone skipped town for sxsw, no one showed up. :(
well, rafi showed up. and nate. and me. but sans pans. geezus. i thought i swore to myself (you all) that i (you all) would never see me in my underwear on this blog again. man. the things i wouldn't do for a laugh (free drink).
ooooooh, i see. well that explains all the hasids. jerusalem is the new williamsburg.

see, jacquie and elisa? sherrod DOES exist. and on saturday, he showed up to damien's birthday party...at sugarland. hmm, i'm not helping my cause.
this guy needs to cheer up.
yesterday i was down under the manhattan bridge overpass.
and with stickers like this floating around, i don't know that i would take my kid to any dumbo playgrounds...
whatever, i'm sure all the riff-raff are behind bars...
